Total recorded crime in Sandwell has fallen 41% since 2002/3. This represents over 16,500 fewer victims.
This past year, the downward trend continued with an 8.3% drop. And over 700 community problems were tackled by Sandwell Council, West Midlands Police, Sandwell Homes, West Midlands Fire Service and others working with local people.
As a regular shopper to the Queens head, it doesn’t take long to notice the poor state of the Council owned pavements, worn out and patchy in places it certainly has become a mess.A few months ago I approached the Council with my concerns, thankfully they have agreed and in a few days time the pavements will be resurfaced.
At a recent council meeting, your Sandwell Labour Councillors voted unanimously to request the West Midlands Fire Service halt their plans to close Smethwick Fire Service.
Labour Councillors from across Sandwell spoke in support of keeping the doomed Smethwick fire station and highlighted the dangers of leaving a dense industrial/residential area without adequate cover.
